Latvia Achieves Historic Victory Over the Czech Republic in 2023 World Cup

Latvia beat the Czech Republic for the first time in history.

The Latvian team led by Harijs Vitolins defeated the Czech Republic (4:3 OT) in the group stage match of the 2023 World Cup.

The author of the decisive goal in overtime was striker Oscar Batnya. In addition, Latvia threw the Czech Republic with a score of 35:25.

This victory was the first over the Czech Republic in the history of the Latvian national team, taking into account all tournaments.

Previously, the teams played 14 matches with each other – the Czech Republic won 13 times, the teams played a draw once.

Latvians also won this tournament for the first time. Before, the team lost to Canada (0:6) and Slovakia (1:2).
