Latvenergo will create an electric car charging network in the Baltic States with 230 ports / Article

Most of the charging stations in Elektrum’s electric car charging network, which currently has 90 ports, are in Riga, but charging points have also been established in the largest cities in Latvia. Together with the partner, 34 ports have been built, while the lease of the “Elektrum Drive” service is connected at 10 ports.

“This year our goal was to reach at least 84 ports, and we have even exceeded this plan, but next year we plan to actively work with ports in Lithuania and Estonia, becoming a Baltic player in charging network issues,” a Latvenergo board member told the media. Kaspars Cikmačs.

The company plans to create a network of 230 ports in the Baltic States. The Baltics will also have their own brand name – “Elektrum Drive”, with which, in addition to charging, other products may appear in the future.

Meanwhile, the company established the first charging station in Latvia in the district of Riga, Nīcgales Street. The neighborhoods are a challenging environment, as they have to deal with factors such as yard infrastructure, lack of parking, as well as complex property rights, which make decision-making long and difficult.
