The second public meeting of the Latitude Nord Gironde Community of Communes (CdC LNG) was held on Wednesday May 10 in the Cézac village hall regarding the Cycling Plan. The first, last December in Marsas, aimed to discuss with the public the various types of actions that can be carried out on the territory. A questionnaire via the CdC website made it possible to survey the practices of part of the population (400 responses).

This time, the objective was to present all three scenarios of the Plan that the research firm proposed to elected officials as well as a summary of the diagnosis. A cycle plan which makes it possible to define circulation spaces, parking facilities and services relating to daily travel (tourist routes not being concerned). An alternative to the individual car for local trips and combined with public transport for long distances.

Unfixed scenarios

Forty people made the trip. They did not fail to ask questions, especially since atlases of scenarios for the bicycle plan were placed on the tables for their attention. Scenarios that are not fixed. “They may be subject to adjustments, additions, or even deletion of sections. This Bike Plan will then make it possible to define the terms and conditions for taking charge of future investments by municipality while taking into account their road skills”, specifies Eric Happert, President of CdC LNG.

The study showed that of the population of the CdC, ie 20,496 inhabitants, the modal split is 88.7% dominated by the car, 1% more than in the other CdCs of Haute Gironde. Nevertheless, participants are interested in cycling provided they are reassured in terms of road safety. The black spots identified being the passage of the RN10, D18 and D22, the needs have been concentrated towards the north-south backbone with a common idea that of connecting the towns together, in the next three to ten years. The final version of the cycling master plan will be presented at an upcoming public meeting before the end of the year.
