Latinos in the United States: The 10 cities where most Hispanics live

It is followed by Puerto Rico, Cuba, El Salvador and the Dominican Republic.

And with minor representations they are in this order: Guatemala, Colombia, Honduras, Ecuador, Peru, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Argentina, Panama, Chile, Costa Rica, Bolivia, Uruguay and Paraguay.

The ten states with the largest Latin population are: California, Texas, Florida, New York, Illinois, Arizona, New Jersey, Colorado, New Mexico and Georgia.

But which are the American cities with the most inhabitants of Latin origin? In this map we find the answer.

California is the state with the largest number of Latinos, and as can be seen in the maps of the urban areas of Los Angeles, Riverside-San Bernardino and San Francisco, the vast majority are of Mexican descent.

Texas, like another of the large Mexican border states, has nearly 40% Latino population.

In large urban areas with a more Spanish accent, the most common is, again, Mexican.

As we move away from the US-Mexico border, the Latin populations living in the country are more diverse.

This is the case of the states of New York and New Jersey, which correspond to the cities of New York, Newark and Jersey, which, being adjacent, we present on the same map.

In Chicago, Mexicans are once again the majority, but Puerto Ricans make up nearly 10% of the total Latino population.

The case of Florida, particularly Miami Dade County, in the south of the state, is very particular because more than half of the Latins are Cubans.

Furthermore, Venezuelan presence in the Sunshine State has significantly increased in recent years, which will be better reflected in the next official census, that of 2020.

We conclude with another of the states bordering Mexico, Arizona, where the immigration debate became very topical in the 2016 presidential election (in which Hillary Clinton prevailed in the state).
