“Pura Sangre” at the NYC Flamenco Festival
The Flamenco Festival New York continues this week with several high-level shows. ‘This is how Federico sings’ at the LATEA Theater
The LATEA Theater (107 Suffolk St.) presents, this Friday, March 15 at 7:30 pm, the piece “ Así Canta Federico “. The King of Latin Soul in the Atrium

The musician comes from East Harlem, where he formed his first band in the 1960s: Joe Bataan and the Latin Swingers. His music was a fusion of Latin boogaloo and African-American doo-wop, and his eight albums included the hit “Riot!” and the classic hit “Subway Joe.” In the 1970s, Joe played a key role in coining the term “salsoul,” which linked salsa and soul music. LaMicro Theater celebrates 20 years of artistic life
On the occasion of its 20th anniversary and as part of ESCENA SUR 2024, LaMicro Theater will present this Saturday, March 16, a dramatized reading of the play “The Bridge/El Puente”, written by playwright Sandra Ruiz. LaMicro Theater, founded in 2003, is a leading independent, nonprofit theater company whose mission is to present contemporary works from Latin America, Spain, and by Latinos in the United States, written in Spanish or English. The Bridge/El Puente tells how a Latino family faces many challenges in today’s society. The piece will be directed by Mexican director Fiamma Piacentini, with a cast made up of Gilat Géricault, Jacqueline Guillén, Ernesto De Villa Bejjani, Paola Poucel, Georgina Saldaña and Bryant Jager. Rotunda Dance Party and el Guggenheim Museum
Works & Process at the Guggenheim presents ‘Rotunda Dance Party: Behind the Groove by Kwikstep and Rokafella,’ a party celebrating all things dance in the Guggenheim Rotunda, on Monday, March 18 at 8 p.m. Since 2009, hip-hop dance legends Kwikstep, also known as DJ KS 360, and Rokafella have hosted Behind the Groove, a dance party inviting the community to jam to classic dance music past, present and future. The event allows dancers to interact organically in a social exchange on the dance floor. Previously held at the Nuyorican Poets Café and now at the Bogart House in Brooklyn, the party will come to the Guggenheim Museum Rotunda during the café’s renovation, in conjunction with the museum’s Member Mondays and presented by Works & Process.
