miami/About thirty right-wing political parties in Latin America joined Cuban refugee groups in Miami (Florida) this Wednesday to demand freedom in Venezuela and Cuba and to “stop financing the Cuban regime.”

“It is a sense that the region is getting more involved in the issue and the strength of these conservative political parties,” Orlando Gutiérrez, secretary general of the Anti-Cuba Assembly (ARC), made up of groups opponents from inside and outside the Island, who participated in the meeting.

The activist pointed out that the political parties involved in Europe already wanted to stop funding the regime.

“It is a sense that the department is becoming more involved in the issue and the strength of these conservative political parties”

At the meeting, the need to protect the rule of law, the division of powers and a system of representation through political parties in the region was discussed.

They asked to “preserve the rules of coexistence that we gave ourselves and called constitutions,” while recalling the importance of Cuba “enjoying the same rights and freedoms ” that citizens of other countries have.

At the meeting it was also announced that the Union of Latin American Parties (UPLA) will hold a summit this Thursday in Miami that will “prioritize support for the freedom of Cuba and Venezuela,” according to Gutiérrez.
