Latin American Integration Day

The “Latin American Integration Association” (ALADI) declared that every July 24 will be celebrated as the “Day of the Integration of Latin America” in homage to Simón Bolívar, who was born on that same date in 1783.

The objective of this event is to spread the idea that Latin American integration contributes to the strengthening of democracies, to the cultural and legal identity of Latin America, to economic growth, to the maintenance of peace, to the human development of people and to the creation of a Latin American community.

Who was Simon Bolivar?

Simón Bolívar was born in 1783 in the city of Caracas, Venezuela. Throughout his life he served in political and military functions and was a protagonist in the independence processes both in his native country and in others in the Latin American region.

As leader of the liberating current of the north, he was one of the fundamental figures in achieving the independence of the current countries of Venezuela, Ecuador, Colombia, Panama, Bolivia and Peru.
