“Latin American and Caribbean Parliamentarians Gather for Climate Summit to Strengthen Environmental Legislation and Cooperation”

The Parliamentary Observatory on Climate Change and Just Transition (OPCC) is an initiative carried out jointly by parliamentary leaders from various countries in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). The OPCC has the objective of constituting a shared information tool about the state of legislation and parliamentary treatment in environmental matters in the region.

The Summit promotes an opportunity for dialogue between LAC legislators with the aim of strengthening climate ambition in the region. The main objectives of the Summit include:

  1. Sign a joint declaration that expresses the common voice of LAC parliamentarians on climate change and just transition;
  2. Announce and welcome new parliamentarians participating in the OPCC;
  3. Strengthen interparliamentary cooperation related to climate change and just transition in LAC, such as the OPCC legislative data platform.
