Russia affirms that it maintains its commitment to avoid a nuclear conflict
Moscow remains faithful to the commitment to avoid a nuclear conflict, according to what the secretary of the Russian Security Council, Nikolai Pátrushev, said on Wednesday. During a visit to New Delhi, Patrushev has accused Western countries of having “provocative behavior in Ukraine” that may have “catastrophic consequences”, since it contradicts the declaration of the leaders of the five largest nuclear powers on January 3, 2022 in which they talk about the inadmissibility of a nuclear war.
“Russia, for its part, remains fully committed to this declaration and is convinced of the need to avoid any military confrontation between countries that possess nuclear weapons,” added Patrushev, quoted by the TASS agency.
Moscow has accused the West in recent days of escalating the situation in Ukraine after the announcement about the shipment of ammunition with depleted uranium. In response, Russia announced the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus, which it plans to carry out in the coming months. (Eph)
