Latest Updates on Ground Fighting and Russian Advances in Ukraine from British Ministry of Defense Report

Over the past week, ground fighting has continued to be characterized by either static front lineor with very gradual Russian advance in places in key sectors. This is stated in the latest intelligence report of the Ministry of Defense of Great Britain on the occasion of the war in Ukraine.

It is noted that in the north, near Kupyansk, the Russian western group of troops continues to conduct a large-scale but fruitless offensive operation.

In the northern part of the Donetsk region, Ukraine maintains a stable frontline amid small-scale Russian attacks around Bakhmut.

In the center of the Donetsk region, the town of Avdeevka remains highly contested. Russian forces have consolidated the territories captured in late December around Marinka, after finally making progress towards the western edge of the city after nine years of fighting in the area.

In southern Ukraine, Russian airborne forces are likely to have made minimal progress in their renewed attempt to dislodge the Ukrainian outpost on the eastern bank of the Dnieper River around the village of Krinki, according to British intelligence.
