Music 37 countries will participate in the Eurovision Song Contest next year. Despite the war, Israel is also back in the party. The organizing European Broadcasting Union (EBU) announced this.
It could even become 38 countries. Discussions are also underway with Romania – present at the annual event last year – about participation, but this has not yet been officially confirmed. Next year’s list of participants will also include a country that has been missing for the past thirty years. Luxembourg is participating in the musical competition for the first time since 1993. The organization also confirms Australia’s participation. The ‘Aussies’ had a special agreement until this year, but may participate again in 2024. Russia is not welcome for the third year in a row because of the war in Ukraine.
Semi-finals
Of the 37 countries, 31 countries will ultimately play in the semi-finals. The so-called Big 5 countries (France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and Spain) and host country Sweden are already assured of a place in the final.
