New developments at Paris Saint-Germain: While a top star returns to the team, another is likely to leave the club.
The French world star Kylian Mbappé has been part of the first team of series champions Paris Saint-Germain since Sunday. The club officially announced this. The 24-year-old, who does not want to extend his contract on the Seine, which expires in 2024, was out of the picture for several weeks with the French.
On Saturday, PSG started the season with a goalless draw against outsiders FC Lorient. Mbappé was still sitting in the stands. “After very constructive and positive discussions between Paris Saint-Germain and Kylian Mbappé ahead of the Lorient game, the player has been reintegrated into first-team training,” PSG said.
Mbappé apparently wants to fulfill his contract with the French champions and then switch to Real Madrid on a free transfer. According to the daily newspaper “Le Parisien”, Mbappé club boss Nasser Al-Khelaifi recently announced again that he would neither sign a new contract nor agree to a change this summer.
Neymar apparently before saying goodbye
On the other hand, the 31-year-old Neymar will probably not play for the Parisians much longer. The Brazilian is “probably on the verge of leaving PSG,” the AFP news agency quoted an anonymous source involved in the negotiations as saying on Sunday, who mentioned an offer from Saudi Arabia. Neymar is ‘not part of the manager’s or the club’s plans anymore,’ the source said.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano had previously reported that Al-Hilal was interested in Neymar. Al-Hilal had already tried in vain to get Neymar’s club-mate Mbappé for a fee of 300 million euros and an alleged annual salary of 700 million euros.
Meanwhile, Paris is threatened by trouble from the Spanish professional league. LaLiga has filed a complaint with the EU Commission against the French champion. The letter stated that “PSG received foreign subsidies from the Emirate of Qatar which enabled the club to improve its competitive position and create significant distortions in several national markets and in the EU”.
