Latest Updates and Distribution Phases of the Moment 3 News Package by Microsoft

Given how clumsily Microsoft is shredding information and phasing testing and distribution, we’ve speculated many times lately about the final form of the Moment 3 news package and we covered its distribution that was announced during the Build 2023 conference. We hope it didn’t blow your mind and we promise the end is coming. We are entering the last stage of distribution.

But we are at the beginning of the stage. In the past, Microsoft collected news, packed it into one update, briefly pushed it through the Insider program (Release Preview channel), and offered it in an optional update outside the testing program before the end of the same month. He ended up rolling out the new features to absolutely everyone the following month in a cycle we unofficially call Patch Tuesday.

This time the testing is more complicated. Since May 11th, the package of news has appeared in the Release Preview channel, but the new functions themselves were only enabled in some installations according to an unknown key. Although the mandatory June service update technically added new functions to all Windows 11 22H2 installations, they were turned on again in a controlled manner.

Only the July mandatory update for Windows 11 22H2 will enable the new features for everyone. But first, this update must go through the Release Preview channel, which happened on June 20. She should be leaving the Insider program in a few days. It should then head into all OS installations as an optional update. If you don’t want to sign up for the Windows Insider testing program, wait.

All new features from Moment 3 are active since build 22621.1926, thanks to update KB5027303. We offered a definitive overview of the news at the end of May. Now just a quick summary:

control of modern context menus with keys, VPN indication in the network connections icon, the clock shows seconds, fast copying of 2FA codes (not in the Czech Republic), touch keyboard settings, adaptive control of content brightness, information about USB4 in Settings, privacy management of presence sensors, faster search in Settings, printscreen key opens Snippets, window switcher menu (Alt+Tab) will display up to 20 tabs from Edge, limit game crashes, implement Bluetooth Low Energy Audio, create kernel dump file while running, multi-app kiosk mode, live subtitles in more languages, improved voice control, isolation of Win32 programs, virtual memory ranges are added to system crash logs, can authenticate across Microsoft clouds, prompts to backup and sign in to a Microsoft account in Start, improved sharing from Explorer with Outlook contacts, improving the stability of the operating system.

The last items on the list represent news, so we didn’t offer you a complete overview of what’s new in Moment 3 last time either. However, the improvement in stability can be seen in general with the update fixing a few bugs, which of course happens every month. It’s almost a mandatory item. We don’t know if Microsoft did anything beyond normal servicing.
