Catalonia registers 681 cases and five deaths in the last 24 hours

Catalonia has registered 988,358 accumulated confirmed cases of coronavirus since the start of the pandemic until this Saturday, 681 more than in the count on Friday, according to the Ministry of Health of the Generalitat. In the last 24 hours, five deaths have been registered and the total number of deaths is 23,911: there are 15,277 in hospital or health center, 4,653 in residence, 1,248 at home and 2,733 that are not classifiable due to lack of information.

As for the patients currently admitted, the figure stands at 392, which is 22 less than in the last count. A total of 130 patients are admitted to intensive care units (ICU) of public and private centers, four less than in the last count: 84 require invasive ventilation (intubation), 13 require extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and 33, support without intubation. The speed of reproduction of the disease (rt) rises to 1.06 and the percentage of positivity of the antigen and PCR tests stands at 2.10%, while the cumulative incidence in the last 14 days is 65.05 per 100,000 inhabitants and the average age of confirmed cases is 34.62 years. The risk of re-emergence rate rises again: on Friday it reached a level of 63, and 24 hours later it stands at 66.

Catalonia has administered the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine to a total of 5,905,821 people since the vaccination campaign began, of which 5,748,423 already have the complete schedule: there are 9,919 new immunized in the last 24 hours. In percentages, 74.8% of the Catalan population is vaccinated with at least one dose of the vaccine, while 72.6% already have the complete vaccination schedule. (Agencies)
