Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The war between Russia and Ukraine is still going on. The latest “catastrophe” was warned to hit Russia.

This was stated by the head of the Russian mercenary group Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin. He warned that a Ukrainian counteroffensive could turn into a “tragedy” for Russia, complaining that his troops were now short of ammunition.

“We (Wagner) only have 10-15% of the bullets we need,” he said, blaming the Russian army leadership, quoted AFP, Monday (1/5/2023).


“This counter attack could be a tragedy for our country,” he stressed again.

It should be noted that for months Wagner has spearheaded the Russian assault on Bakhmut, the eastern Ukrainian city at the center of the current fighting. Wagner is a private troop that was deliberately recruited to help President Vladimir Putin’s army fight.

Prigozhin himself is an ally of Putin. However, in the last few weeks, he has been in conflict with the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Prigozhin’s latest statement was also said in an interview with Russia’s pro-Kremlin war correspondent Semyon Pegov. Prigozhin said he expected a Ukrainian counterattack to take place in mid-May.

The Russian war in Ukraine, Sudan, took place in February 2022. In secret United States (US) documents that were leaked in early April, at least the number of casualties from the military side of Moscow and Kyiv, which reached a total of 354,000 soldiers.

On the Ukrainian side there were 124,500 to 131,000 total casualties. Including 15,500 to 17,500 killed and 109,000 to 113,500 injured.

Last Friday, it was discovered that Moscow was again launching missiles at cities across Ukraine at night. Twenty-five civilians were reportedly killed, in the first large-scale attack in two months.

Ukraine said the dead also included children. A fuel tank in the Crimean port city of Sevastopol also caught fire in a drone strike on Saturday.
