The New York Yankees won’t be able to meet one of their goals in MLB free agency, as Andrew Benintendi has reached a deal with the Chicago White Sox according to a report by Jeff Passan for ESPN.
Benintendi came to New York in a measured trade last season from the Kansas City Royals and the Bronx wanted him to relinquish the starting job in left field.
The left-handed hitter agreed to a five-year, $75 million contract, which is the largest guaranteed contract in White Sox history. Overall, Benintendi slashed .304/.373/.399 in 2022 with five home runs and 51 RBI last season.

The Boston Red Sox said Friday they had designated veteran Eric Hosmer for the job.
The move comes after they acquired reliever Wyatt Mills from the Kansas City Royals for minor league pitcher Jacob Wallace.
Hosmer has three years and $39 million left on his contract, the vast majority of which is being paid by the San Diego Padres.
