Apple will launch iPhone 14 at the end of this year. The leak is that the iPhone 14 will carry the A15 Bionic processor, the same processor as the iPhone 13 series.
This was revealed by Apple analyst Ming Chi Kuo and reinforced by a report from TrendForce.
However, iPhone 14 Pro will carry the latest A16 Bionic chipset as quoted by GSM Arena
iPhone 14 and 14 Max will carry the latest chipset with more RAM and GPU power.
The main reason is due to supply chain shortages across the industry and Apple will not be able to provide the latest chipsets for the lower tier models.
Apple prefers to focus its supply chain on producing higher-spec Pro models.
Regardless of the reason, Apple’s A15 chip isn’t inferior to current rival chipsets and having an entry-tier iPhone with that chip won’t be a problem.
Launch Time
Apple is rumored to be launching its new flagship iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro on September 13.
This was said by LeaksApplePro tipster through his upload on the iDropNews site. Although not official information, Apple always chooses September to release the latest iPhone.
Apple will replace the iPhone 14 Mini with the iPhone 14 Max which has a bigger screen, considering that sales of the iPhone 14 are not very encouraging. Apple will embed the advanced A15 Bionic chipset into iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max
iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will not have a notch or punch hole as a housing for the front camera and Face ID sensor. Apple first introduced the notch design on the iPhone X as quoted by Tom’s Guide.
iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will use the latest A16 Bionic chipset, a display with a 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate, and a 48 MP main camera.
iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro are expected to come with 6.1-inch screens. Meanwhile, the iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max will appear with a larger 6.7-inch screen.
On that occasion, Apple will also launch the AirPods Pro 2 and Apple Watch 8. The AirPods Pro 2 will feature lossless audio and the latest active noise cancellation (ANC) technology.
Apple Watch 8 will come in three models, namely the Apple Watch 8 standard edition, Apple Watch SE, and Apple Watch Extreme Edition.
Remove Lightning Port

Apple analyst and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that Apple will soon abandon the lightning port charging standard for all its devices, from iPhones, AirPods, MagSafe chargers, mouse peripherals and Apple keyboards.
Previously, Kuo had also analyzed that Apple would redesign the iPhone to feature a more universal standard port in the second half of 2023.
This is corroborated by Bloomberg’s analysis that Apple will ditch the iPhone’s Lightning port in 2023.
Instead, Apple will move everything to the much more universal USB-C. USB-C is the oval-shaped charging port you’ve probably seen in the latest Android phones, modern video game controllers, and even some Apple products like MacBooks.
The advantage, USB Type-C offers charging and transferring data faster than Lightning.
Another benefit, USB Type-C can use the same charging cable for every device you own, as quoted by Engadget.
Another reason is that Apple wants to avoid regulatory scrutiny rather than creating a better user experience and repeating e-waste.
For information, the European Union has spent years pushing for universal charging ports and last month moved one step closer to making USB-C mandatory on all small and mid-sized electronics.
