Increasing safety requirements place ever higher demands on manufacturers. For this reason, the five-star Opel Astra / Peugeot 308 developed on a single platform did not achieve the coveted five-star mark in the latest EuroNCAP tests.
Kia EV6, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Volvo C40 Recharge and Volkswagen Multivan received the highest rating from safety experts, while Mercedes (93%) received the highest rating for adult passenger safety, which together with Volvo proved to be the safest for small passengers (both 92%). . The C-Class also proved to be the safest for pedestrians and cyclists (80%), but Volvo was superior to all assistants (89%).
The Opel Astra / Peugeot 308 is also pretty well prepared, but this time it has to put up with four stars. Experts both criticized the lack of a central airbag between the front seats, noting that there was a slightly increased risk of chest injuries for medium-sized men and smaller drivers.
Opel Astra received 80% for adult occupant safety, 82% for child protection, 67% for pedestrian and cyclist protection and 66% for a range of safety assist systems. The rating for the technical twin Peugeot 308 is as follows: 76/84/68 and 65 percent.
