Lateral thinker again in Berlin bar: Police approve meeting to found a party with a hygiene concept – Berlin

In the bar “Scotch and Sofa” on Kollwitzstrasse in Prenzlauer Berg, several people gathered again on Thursday evening to found a party. The event will be streamed live via YouTube. In contrast to last week, the event has been registered with the regulatory authorities.

The Berlin police told Tagesspiegel that the event had been registered and approved. A hygiene concept is in place. Around 15 to 20 police officers are on site in the evening and ensure compliance with the hygiene rules, although some participants do not wear masks, they do not break the event.

On the opposite side of the street around 10 p.m. some residents gathered: inside and onlookers and watched the scene in the bar. The officials: inside asked them to go on.

A week ago up to 30 people without any hygiene concept had come to the same location to witness the founding of the “Team Freedom Scotch and Sofa” party. After several calls from residents, the police broke up the meeting and determined the personal details of those involved.

Among them were numerous people who can be attributed to the Berlin “lateral thinking” scene as well as the lawyers Viviane Fischer and Rainer Fuellmich, who both criticize the German government’s corona policy and downplay the danger of the virus. One day later there were repeated gatherings in Kollwitzstrasse to continue the founding of the party. Here, too, police intervened and asked participants to move away from the site.

In the live stream on Thursday evening you can see how the lawyer Rainer Fuellmich criticized the reporting of various media regarding the dissolved event last week at the beginning of the meeting. According to Fuellmich, there was “nothing destructive” and no arrest would have been made.

After the breakup last Thursday, a journalist was attacked by a participant. The police took the attacker into custody briefly. The police are investigating suspicions of attempted bodily harm.
