Climate activist Greta Thunberg also receives attention from the world ’s top leaders, who are now in place on day three of the UN climate summit in Glasgow.
But even she does not seem to be flattered the mention of the powerful .
When Thunberg on the second day of the summit joined forces with the protesters in the Scottish city on Monday night, she was ruthless in her judgment of the people in power at COP26.
– At the COP, only politicians and people in power pretend to take our future seriously. They pretend to take seriously the people who are already affected by the climate crisis, the young Swede told those present.

Norway on the agenda
With over a hundred heads of state and government and around 25,000 delegates from various countries in place, there is a tight schedule on the days of the summit.
On Tuesday afternoon, it will be Norway, represented by Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, who will get the audience’s attention.
Støre has revealed that his post will emphasize three things in particular:
– One is this with financing, that Norway here is concrete. I will emphasize the importance of accelerating the transition to renewable energy sources. Then we must come up with technology and industrial solutions that make it possible. And then I will emphasize the importance of the financial institutions thinking about sustainability and the goals of the Paris Agreement, says the Prime Minister to NTB.
Støre is now taking over the baton from his predecessor Solberg as head of the international ocean panel.
Støre is expected to speak at 13.50 Norwegian time. VGTV broadcasts the speech.

Distrust
The backdrop to the summit is serious: the globe is getting warmer due to human emissions, and the climate is becoming more extreme.
Ahead of the meeting, 200 countries have been asked to present a plan for how to cut emissions by 2030. This is an update of the voluntary climate targets included in the Paris Agreement in 2015.
The agreement reached in the French capital has been criticized for not being too binding, and Norwegian Prime Minister Støre is among those who have argued that the goals set must now be more binding.
