The BSP National Council is meeting in person for the first time in a long time. The reason for this is the failure of the parliamentary elections, after which the members of the Executive Bureau resigned, but this was refused by the President Cornelia Ninova.
The topic is a discussion of the current political situation in the country, analysis of the election results and forthcoming decisions in the National Assembly. Positano 20 is expected to finally announce support for the second presidential term of Rumen Radev and Iliana Yotova. It was Cornelia Ninova’s personal problems with the head of state that forced him to nominate himself, are cited by political scientists as one of the reasons for the weakest result of the left in the parliamentary elections so far.
On question of Dir.bg. whether the BSP will support Rumen Radev and Iliana Yotova today, sociologist Vasil Tonchev answered:
“Definitely. The BSP will agree to everything. They have fallen so low and are so weak at the moment that they agree to any compromises, including to support the government of “There is such a people”, as well as the candidacy of the president. And these are circumstances that are imposed on them from the outside. And many more compromises will have to be made to stay afloat in some way. “
Supporters of Cornelia Ninova tried to explain the delay in supporting President Radev with procedural norms in the party, but this did not prevent the President from approving a possible term of office alone of “There is such a people” to form a new Council of Ministers.
At the same time, together with that of GERB, the BSP group in the 45th National Assembly fell into isolation. She was not recognized as a supporter of other opposition political forces and did not receive a chairmanship in any of the parliamentary committees voted yesterday. That is why coalition policies will be the subject of heated debate in the National Council.
It is expected Cornelia Ninova should also be personally sharply criticized. Unlike other cases, now not only the internal opposition but also the opposition to its way of governing until recently her supporters from her close circle.
