Late night shows: How to go to recordings in New York and Los Angeles?

« As a late night show host, people often say to me, “Come on, a part of you must secretly want Trump to win, he gives you so much content!…. Well no. » This is how one of the most popular guests of the Late Night Show, Stephen Colbert, began his monologue on the evening of November 6. It is true that Late Night Shows, an institution in the United States, experienced a golden age under Trump I, and it may be at the forefront of the new president from January 20, 2025.

Most Late Night Shows follow a similar format: a monologue from the presenter commenting on the news, an interview with at least one celebrity, sketches and comedy, and musical performances on set. The good news is that it is possible to attend the recordings of these shows in New York for free, that same evening (Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers, Jon Stewart, John Oliver or Saturday Night Live) or Los Angeles (Jimmy Kimmel).

The only limitation is that you have to have a few hours – between check-in and check-in, it takes about three to four hours. So, how do you register?

In New York

The Tonight Show, hosted by Jimmy Fallon

To register, go to www.1iota.com. Registration is not immediate, and you must explain in a few words why you want to attend the exhibition. If your registration is confirmed, you will receive an email later to confirm your tickets.

On that day, you must arrive at 3:45 p.m. 30 Rockefeller Plaza (entrance at 50 W 50th Street). The Tonight Show taping will begin at 5pm and last approximately 1.5 hours. You must be at least 16 years old to attend the show.

Late Night, hosted by Seth Meyer

As for Jimmy Fallon, recording is on www.1iota.com. You can request up to 4 tickets. Most registrations take place at 4pm, and listeners should arrive between 2pm and 2:45pm at the 30 Rockefeller Plaza (entrance at 50 West 50th Street). Registration takes about 1 hour 15 minutes, and in total it will take you about 3 hours, until about 5:15 pm. You must be at least 16 years old to attend the registration.

The Late Show, hosted by Stephen Colbert

Register on www.1iota.com (see above). You must arrive at 4:15pm at the Ed Sullivan Theatre, 1697 Broadway. 16-18 year olds must be accompanied by an adult.

The Daily Show, hosted by Jon Stewart

Register on www.1iota.com (see above). Only those 18 and over are admitted. You must arrive at 4.30pm at 733 11th Street at the corner of 52nd Street and 11th Avenue.

Last Week Tonight, presented by John Oliver

The draw for the 11th season of Last Week Tonight, which premieres on February 17, 2025, will begin on Thursday, February 8 at 3pm ET. From this date, a lottery for registrations will be held on Tuesdays at 3pm starting February 12th. Shows will be taped Saturdays at 5pm on the CBS Broadcast Center, 530 West 57th rue (between the 10th and 11th avenues). You can request up to 4 tickets, for those aged 18 and over only. In Los Angeles

Registrations still going www.1iota.com. Jimmy Kimmel Live! filmed in the heart of Hollywood, at the El Capitan Entertainment Center. Only those 18 and over are admitted. Plan to arrive at 3:45pm, check-in will begin at 4:30pm and will last approximately 1.5 hours.

What about Saturday Night Live (SNL) in all this?

The least we can say is that the famous Saturday Night Live is worth attending! There are two options open to you: participate in the lottery for the 2025/26 season, or take your confidence in both hands to backup card to add your name to the waiting list in case there is no place available that week – or both! You can attend “ dress rehearsal » at 8 p.m., or live recording at 11:30 p.m.

The lottery for SNL tickets, for the 2025-2026 season, will be open from August 1, 2025 at noon EST to August 31 at midnight EST. To participate in the lottery, send an email between these two dates [email protected] with your first and last name, and why you want to attend the show. If you are selected, you will receive tickets but you cannot choose the date. Minimum age: 16 years old.

In addition to the lottery, backup cards distributed at noon on the day of each show. You must first reserve a backup card by clicking on this lienfrom 10am on the Thursday before the show. From there you will receive a confirmation number. With this number, you must join the line at the NBC Studios Marquee on 49th Street between 6pm and 7pm on the Friday before the show. All members of your group must attend. Don’t forget your ID. You have to stay in line, without alcohol, mattresses, tent and sleeping bag (!) until midnight – the time when the Backup cards will be distributed. Bye !
