Late Brace by Mats Hummels Saves Borussia Dortmund in Bundesliga Win

Berlin (dpa) – Mats Hummels saved Borussia Dortmund from another setback in the Bundesliga. The central defender scored late in the 4:2 (1:2) win at SC Freiburg and secured the second win of the season.

Cup winners RB Leipzig reduced the gap to league leaders Bayer Leverkusen and FC Bayern to one point with a 3-0 (3-0) against FC Augsburg and leads a chasing quartet.

Also VfB Stuttgart through the 3:1 (0:0) at FSV Mainz 05, the TSG Hoffenheim after the 3:1 (2:0) at 1. FC Köln and VfL Wolfsburg after the 2:1 (2:1 ) against 1. FC Union Berlin have nine points in their account. Dortmund follows with eight points.

Mats Hummels with a brace

Hummels (11th) gave BVB the lead after a corner. Dortmund were clearly superior afterwards. Lucas Höler (45th + 2) and Nicolas Höfler (45th + 6) made the host fans cheer again immediately before the half-time whistle. Donyell Malen (60th) brought BVB back into the game. Höfler was shown a red card late after a foul (81′). Again Hummels (88th) with a lucky goal in the penalty area and Marco Reus (90th + 2) ensured the late victory.

For Leipzig, Dutch newcomer Xavi Simons (7th) was successful early with his header. Assist Loïs Openda scored a little later in the twelfth minute. David Raum (27th) gave RB a very reassuring lead after less than half an hour.

Goal scorer Jonas Wind (12th) scored his fifth goal of the season for Wolfsburg. Robin Gosens (28th) equalized for Union, but Joakim Maehle (30th) put the hosts back in the lead.

Bochum and Frankfurt are the league’s draw kings so far. In the 1-1 draw, both teams recorded a point for the third time in a row. Éric Dina Ebimbe (55th) gave Frankfurt the lead, Kevin Stöger (74th/foul penalty) managed the deserved equalizer.

Kramarić scores after 50 seconds

Hoffenheim’s Andrej Kramarić was the early spoilsport at the 100th anniversary celebrations of the stadium in the Müngersdorf district of Cologne. The Croatian scored after 50 seconds. Florian Grillitsch (28th) took spectacular advantage of a mistake by Cologne goalkeeper Marvin Schwäbe and scored with a shot from the halfway line – according to the pay-TV broadcaster Sky from 55.6 meters. Maximilian Beier (52nd) stepped up in the second half. Davie Selke (61st) scored for Cologne. FC professional Rasmus Carstensen saw the yellow-red card (90th + 1).

Both teams struggled for a long time in Mainz, but Serhou Guirassy (56th) was successful for the guests. Mainz celebrated Leandro Barreiro’s equalizer (70′), before Guirassy was successful again (84′ and 90’+7). The FSV remains second to last.
