After eight rounds, Újpest is the only team undefeated, with three points in the last place in NB I. Former legendary purple-white fighter László Fazekas, 73, told Metropol that it was painful to see his beloved club slip down for many years. Although the fans of Újpest would deserve a team that is among the best in Hungary.

It hit a low on Saturday in NB I, Újpest, when the team got home 3-1 against Gyirmó, the former army driver. László Fazekas betrayed the news in Marbella, Spain, that the purple-whites had been defeated again.
– My friend Antal Dunai called me during the match, I asked him what is the job? Fazekas told the Metropolis. “He said 3-0, that’s what I told him, finally, he added, but not to us.” I couldn’t believe we couldn’t win against Gyirmó either. I was seriously relieved that my beloved club sank so deep. Terrible feeling.
László Fazekas is one of the most successful battles in the history of Újpest. From 1965 he played in the IV. district and finished on the podium in each season. He has nine championship titles, four silver and two bronze medals next to his name. He was able to celebrate three times as a goal king in NB I, he won three times in the Hungarian Cup, and in 1980 he won the European silver shoe. In 1985, he was elected the inherited champion of the club by Újpest Dózsa. He won the Olympic championship in 1968, scoring 24 goals in 92 matches in the Hungarian national team.
Roderick Duchatelet, the Belgian owner of Újpest, betrayed when he would decide to change coach.
– I would only switch if I see no other solution and no progress – he told nso.hu. about head coach Michael Oenning, the owner. – However, once this season we played football really badly, unfortunately just last time, against Gyirmó.
