Just on October 25, 2023 alone another ~$4.4M was drained from 25+ victims as a result of the LastPass hack.

“Most, if not all, victims are long-time LastPass users and/or confirm that they saved their keys or seed phrases with the service,” Monahan noted in a report on Chainabuse.
LastPass previously confirmed that attackers managed to gain access to encrypted password storage data. The developers assured that the information remains confidential thanks to the zero-knowledge architecture.
In September, cybersecurity journalist Brian Krebs wrotethat experts have discovered the theft of more than $35 million worth of cryptocurrencies from approximately 150 confirmed victims. All of them were LastPass users.
“The profile of the victims is the most striking thing. They really are all quite knowledgeable about security issues. They are deeply integrated into this ecosystem, [включая] employees of reputable crypto organizations, venture capitalists, people who created DeFi protocols, deployed smart contracts, ran full nodes,” Monahan said then.
According to researchers, as a result of the LastPass data leak, an employee of the famous analytical company Chainalysis lost “several millions” in digital assets. The company confirmed the incident but declined to comment on it.
Let us remind you that in the third quarter of 2023 alone, the crypto industry lost about $889.3 million as a result of hacks, fraud and rug pulls, according to Beosin.
