In the men’s singles at the Australian Open, it was expected that the first two seeded players Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic could meet in the final. But the Spaniard was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Alexander Zverev after a great performance.
The final men’s singles quarter-final started late again and the German tennis player surprisingly dominated the first set and won 6-1.
The 26-year-old Zverev continued to play great tennis and defeated the world number two in the second set 6:3 and was already leading 5:2 in the third. Alcaraz still got back into the game when he broke Zverev’s serve to win the third set in a tiebreak.
However, Zverev won the last set again and after a 3:1 win, he will play in the semifinals. In this, Daniil Medvedev, who was also world number one in the past, is waiting for him.
The second semi-final pair consists of current number one Novak Djokovic and fourth seed Jannik Sinner.
