The Czechia is the seventh most important market for the Nošovice carmaker after Italy.

The carmaker produced 309,500 cars in the Czech Republic last year, which represented a year-on-year decrease of nine percent. Barvík stated that last year’s final production was 2.7 percent lower than the original plan of 318,000 cars, due to the cessation of production of the ix20 model and a change in the situation in some markets.

“Even so, we again exceeded the limit of 300,000 cars produced. We used the freed capacity to prepare for 2020, “said Barvík. The factory produced over 300,000 cars for the eighth year in a row.

According to Barvík, the year 2019 was historically significant for the carmaker due to the three millionth car produced in Nošovice and also the millionth car produced by the Hyundai Tucson model.

Hyundai President Yang Dong-hwan said that the Nošovice plant has long been one of the highest productivity in the group, and this was the case last year.

“We have succeeded in increasing the level of quality of manufactured vehicles, applying new technologies to production processes, increasing the degree of automation and optimizing the consumption of production material,” said the president. Thanks to a combination of these factors, according to the company, it was possible to increase profit year-on-year.

In March this year, the factory started production of the Kona Electric car, the first electric car mass-produced in the Czech Republic. Last month, it launched production of the innovated i30 model line and is preparing another novelty in the autumn. It will cover the Tucson model, which accounts for 70 percent of its production.

The factory in Nošovice is the only Hyundaie production plant in the European Union. It produces up to 1500 cars a day. It produces the i30, Kona Electric and Tucson models. The plant has 3,300 employees, another 8,700 people working for its direct suppliers.
