Last year, drivers paid fines of 10.879 million euros for speed violations detected by photo radars, Juris Jančevskis, the head of the Traffic Safety Board of the State Police (VP), told the Road Traffic Safety Council today.
Last year, 242,796 violations were detected with the photo radars of the Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD), but 72,160 speed violations were detected with the VP photo radars.
A total of € 13.239 million in fines was imposed on drivers, including € 10.203 million for CSDD photo radars and € 3.035 million for LP photo radars.
In total, drivers have paid 8.12 million euros for violations detected by CSDD photo radars and 2.759 million euros for violations detected by VP photo radars.
According to Jančevskis, it can be concluded that a certain category of drivers continues to exceed the permitted speed, despite the control mechanism.
