A total of 118 persons returned – 69 adults and 49 children. Most persons returned to Latvia from Great Britain, Ireland, Germany, Norway and Denmark.
The families chose Jelgava, Aizkraukle, Dobele, Bauska, Jēkabpils and Jelgava region as their place of residence.
Last year, Anete Spalviņa, the remigration coordinator of the Zemgale planning region, prepared 407 individual offers for remigrants. She points out that the return process is a thoughtful decision made more often by families with children who have to start school.
The coordinator helps to return to Latvia, to participate in the activities of the local community and the labor market after a long absence.
The Remigration Coordinator acknowledges that the return process is not easy, especially if you have lived abroad for a long time. For example, people do not have a local bank account and SmartID, as well as other tools they need on a daily basis. This process often takes a year, sometimes two.
