Despite the failure of negotiations to recruit Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney, targeted this summer to strengthen the Blues attack, Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca prefers not to dwell on these disappointments and reaffirms his confidence in Nicolas Jackson.
“I have confidence in Nicolas Jackson, and so does the club, even before these recruitment attempts,” Maresca said at a press conference. “It’s not because we were looking for another striker that we don’t believe in Nicolas. We have confidence in him. Last week, when the transfer window was still open, I said he was doing wonderfully with us. I’m very happy with him.”

The Italian coach was keen to highlight Jackson’s importance to the London squad, recalling his recent encouraging performances. “Nicolas is doing a fantastic job with us, with and without the ball. He has already scored two goals this season, and he found the back of the net again today. He had two other chances, but we are happy with his performance.”
Despite speculation over the arrival of a new striker, Maresca insists that the faith in Jackson has never wavered. With constant praise for his young forward, the Blues boss has made it clear that he is counting on Jackson to occupy the forefront of the attack and contribute to the club’s success this season.
