Once a train has started moving, there is almost nothing (except perhaps the train driver) to dissuade it from its destination, which makes it the worst possible place to be in the event of a zombie epidemic. Possible escape and hiding options? Nothing! But the entertainment value of such a crazy scenario, which in 2016 was good for one of the most successful zombie shockers in recent years, is all the greater.
Now should Train to Busan, South Korea’s answer to western zombie hits like World War Z, to be reissued for the American and worldwide markets. In such a case it is common first of all skepticism announced. Inevitably, questions arise such as: Is this really necessary? And above all: can the original actually be made better?
According to James Wan (Mortal Kombat, The Conjuring – Die Heimsuchung), who wants to have found a way and is the producer behind the new edition, answered with an unequivocal “yes”. And for some time now he has also had the right director by the handwho is supposed to put this project into practice:

Director with action and horror experience
It is Timo Tjahjanto, who was born in Germany, but like James Wan from the Southeast Asian region, who action and horror fans have been around for a long time. Here, in particular, is his contribution, which has gone through his marrow and legs Safe Haven out S-VHS aka V/H/S 2 that many viewers will remember for a long time afterwards.
Brute action thriller like Killers, Headshot and specially The Night Comes for Us prove that he feels just as much at home in the action cinema. Most recently, he worried with his Netflix shocker The devil should get you (May the Devil Take You) caused a sensation, following in the footsteps of Sam Raimi and his Evil DeadSaga is changing and for Tjahjanto it was now, so to speak, the ticket to Hollywood.
The fact that he is familiar with both horror and action should be evident from cross-genre material such as Train to Busan come in handy.

James Wan’s TRAIN TO BUSAN should be different
How James Wan will approach his American version cannot yet be said. With Gary Dauberman he has a horror-experienced author at his side, who is already Stephen Kings IS, Annabelle 2, the series produced by Wan Swamp Thing or The Nun has on the kerbholz. Besides that we know from nowthat the focus of the action in this reinterpretation should not be a moving train in Asia, but one in the United States.
The production currently listens to the name Last Train to New York (with an emphasis on currentlybecause the newly determined working title could change again in the future) and will – as the title of the film already suggests – maneuver the public transport of horror not to Busan, but to New York City! However, the creators have much more in mind than an unimaginative 1: 1 adaptation of the original material, which they even want to avoid.
James Wan is not interested in a simple remake that only changes the scene and otherwise does everything the same. For him Train to Busan a film that “is so damn great that you don’t want to deliver anything less. We’re getting very close to that. I think we found a way Train to Busan to film for the US market without ruining the original. ” The zombie film was one of the most successful horror films in recent years, with worldwide revenues of 100 million US dollars. The action-packed successor followed in 2020 Peninsula.
