“From the smallest, almost useless tournaments, Lucka and I got to the biggest events and courts,” recalled Hlaváčková, with whom sister Jana, husband Fabrizio and daughter Isabella were also on the court during the ceremony.

The ceremony in the hot weather was not good for the collectors watching, one girl even collapsed, so a short thank you was given to the other teammates: the Hungarian Babosová, the Chinese Pheng Shuaj and her friend Barbora Strýcová. “I have had a wonderful career and I would never have imagined what I would achieve,” Hlaváčková waved to the applauding stands.
