Last public payphone dismantled in New York

According to the authorities, the last public payphone on a New York street has been dismantled and is to go to a museum. The telephone booth with two pay machines in Times Square will be exhibited in the New York City Museum in the future, the responsible authority said.

Instead of payphones, the city administration had set up numerous so-called LinkNYC columns in recent years, which offer wireless Internet and charging options for devices, among other things. However, there are still a few non-city-operated payphones in the metropolis, as well as telephones in several subway stations.
