Last precautions before lockdown? Veils must be outside and in the car

“Veils will be introduced in the outdoor environment,” Prymula said after the cabinet meeting.

People will have to have veils outside in cities and towns if they are closer than two meters apart. Members of the same household do not have to have a veil. People who play sports will also have an exception. “Veils outside the built-up area are also not required,” the minister added. The regulation will enter into force on Tuesday midnight.

This came to Prymul’s words from an interview with Právo last Saturday, when he said that no further tightening measures would be introduced, except for wearing veils outside for a week or two. His words suggested that if it didn’t help, some form of lockdown would come into play.

Veils even in the car

The government has also agreed to the mandatory wearing of veils in the car if there are no members of the same family. “If it concerns one family, then there is no measure, they can be without a veil,” said the head of the health department.

He justified the measures with the still high number of newly infected patients with coronavirus, which are increasing, especially among vulnerable groups.

According to the minister, the possible introduction of a lockdown will not be discussed at the government this week. According to him, the measure must prove effective in 14 days.

According to the Minister, areas for coronavirus patients and the necessary staff should also be set aside in nursing homes.

Prymula did not rule out support for outdoor schools for primary school children in order to continue teaching while preventing the spread of coronavirus in society. He told CNN Prima News after the government meeting. However, according to him, the decision is too early, it will depend on the development of the epidemic in the coming days.

Prymula said that if the growth rate of the number of infected people could not be stopped, it would be necessary to adopt additional restrictions on the functioning of schools beyond the current measures, which are to end on 1 November. “Then outdoor schools would be a solution to keep the first stage in the process (school education),” he added.

New beds on the way

Hospitals are also now expected to register covid patients faster. He must register the person admitted with covid-19 to the care coordination system within an hour. So far, they have had to do it once a day.

Before signing, there is also a contract with the two largest suppliers of medical beds, this week they are to supply six hundred of them for the temporary hospital in Letňany.

The number of deaths with confirmed coronavirus infection has started to increase significantly, especially since October, when, according to data from the Ministry of Health, dozens of people die every day (the current record is 71 deaths from 16 October). In the spring it grew at a similar rate in a matter of weeks. The first hundred dead were exceeded 17 days after the first death, and on 18 May the number of deaths reached 300, ie eight weeks after the first death.
