European Space Agency astronaut Matthias Maurer, who is on the International Space Station (ISS), shared colorful images from the ‘Badminton’ match on the ISS on the first day of the new year.
ESA astronaut Matthias Maurer on the ISS played a badminton match with his crewmates, Japanese Yusaku Maezawa and Yozo Hirano.

Sharing colorful images of those moments, astronaut Maurer said, “We’re also looking forward to a new year full of science, new experiments and more fun team activities like our orbital badminton match.”

“Focusing on scientific and operational activities while staying on the ISS, astronauts on the Space Station also enjoy recreational activities that provide important balance for the crew and provide opportunities for cross-cultural exchange and team building,” ESA said in a statement on the color images.
