The satellite of Galileo, the satellite navigation system of the European Union, was launched into space by the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) and Arianespace, the operator of the Guyana Space Center in French Guiana in Latin America.
Galileo’s navigation satellite, owned by the British Surrey Satellite Technology company, was sent into space at 03.19 ET. The launch of the first generation spacecraft of the positioning service, which has been the global navigation service of Europe since 2016 and used by 2 billion 300 million people in the world, took place just in time.
It was learned that there were no problems during the launch, which was planned to be launched two days ago but was delayed due to bad weather conditions.
Roscosmos stated that the most important reason for launching the satellite from the Guyana Space Center is that the rockets launched from here reach their orbits in a shorter time. At the same time, it was noted that rockets launched from this center can carry 15 percent more payload.
It was stated that Russia will send 6 more Galileo satellites into orbit in the coming years.
