President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the expected ‘good news’. Erdogan said: “Turkey has carried out the largest gas discovery in the history of the Black Sea,” he said. Stating that they have 320 billion cubic meters of natural gas reserves, Erdogan said, “Our goal is to make Black Sea gas available to our nation in 2023”.

Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Dönmez made a statement about the natural gas reserve.
Minister Dönmez used the following statements:
* We started seismic research studies in this region 14 months ago. There is a sea depth of around 2100 meters in this region. After 1400 meters of excavation, 2 gas flows started to come.
* Even if we cannot find new sources, this gas meets the 7-8 years’ need. Calculated retrospectively, the value of the gas is $ 65 billion.
* We can make the pipeline by tender. Business will be conducted by Turkey Petroleum. We have the power to manage this process with local and national means, from the source to the furnace in the house.
