American children between the ages of 5 and 12 can receive the corona vaccine from Pfizer/BioNTech, the CDC health service ruled, following the FDA’s drug regulator. The vaccination of this age group is expected to start this week, American media report. The US government had already announced that.

About 28 million children are eligible. The dose is one third of that for people over 12. They can get a second shot after three weeks. Last week, the FDA confirmed Pfizer and BioNTech’s view that the immune system of younger children also responds favorably to their corona vaccine.

Earlier this month, the two companies submitted an application to the European Medicines Agency (EMA).
