A victory for the regional volleyball league team against VJF Frankfurt II on Saturday is a must. The game takes place in Darmstadt: Home law was swapped.
DARMSTADT – Showtime in the relegation battle: If the DSW Darmstadt volleyball team wins in the last round against VJF Frankfurt II on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the local casino hall, they may still have a chance of staying up. For a happy ending, however, Eintracht Frankfurt would have to lose at the same time to SSG Langen, who are already champions, and should then not score points in the catch-up game on April 9 against TG Hanau. At the moment, DSW is two points behind Eintracht, who are in seventh place.
“There are only eight of us, but we’re highly motivated to win the last game,” captain Nico Germer and his team want to do everything in their power to achieve their third win in a row and keep the hope of remaining in the league alive . While Florian Rheinschmidt is unavailable, libero Jakob Müller may be able to return to the team. That will be decided in the short term. Actually, the game should have taken place in Frankfurt. Because the talents from the Frankfurt volleyball boarding school don’t have a hall available, DSW stepped in and now enjoys home rights.
The Oberliga men from Orplid Darmstadt are meanwhile challenged in the promotion round on Saturday at 4 p.m. by leaders TV Bommersheim. They have to do without middle blocker Christian Herget. Since no training is possible in the vocational school center, which is currently housing Ukrainian refugees, Orplid played a training game at DSW Darmstadt this week – it ended 3-0 for the regional league team. Ultimately, however, the result was insignificant, as captain Stefan Harnisch notes. Because: “We both rotated through.”
