Austrian Airlines has canceled flights between Vienna and Tehran until April 18 due to the high threat of escalation in the region.

Austrian Airlines, which is a subsidiary of the German Lufthansa, announced the cancellation of all flights from Vienna to Tehran and back, given the expected escalation. The company will also adjust the routes of its other international flights that passed through Iranian airspace.
“The safety of our passengers and crew is our highest priority,” the company said.
The announcement came somewhat later than Lufthansa’s decision.
Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines are the only Western airlines that operate international flights to Tehran. Most flights are operated by companies from Turkey and the Middle East.
Before this, on Friday, the Austrian Foreign Ministry, following Germany, called on its citizens to leave Iran.
