Today, commuters and travelers at Deutsche Bahn have to reckon with failed train connections and delays. The five-day strike is supposed to end at 2 a.m.
The union of German locomotive drivers (GDL) continues its strike unabated, it said. “The situation is unchanged, the replacement schedule has started again as planned,” said a railway spokeswoman in the morning. The long-distance transport capacities, which were increased to around 30 percent by the weekend, could, however, be maintained. In regional transport, Deutsche Bahn expects that an average of around 40 percent of journeys will take place. In this tariff dispute, it is the first time that the GDL also went on strike on a Saturday and Sunday. For holidaymakers it was sometimes difficult in regional traffic – the regional express from Hanover to Norddeich, for example, only went to Leer, from there buses continued to the coast.
