Thus, the ratio of positive Covid-19 tests to the total number of tests performed per day has increased from 2.03% to 2.63% during the last day, according to the calculations of the agency LETA.
Yuri Perevoshchikov, Director of the Infectious Diseases Risk Analysis and Prevention Department at the SPKC, previously explained that this proportion is considered significant in the European Union, as exceeding 3%, the spread of the disease is considered to be rapid and uncontrolled.
In Latvia, infection with Covid-19 has so far been laboratory confirmed in 2,086 persons or 0.62% of all those who have performed tests.
To date, 334,829 Covid-19 examinations have been performed in Latvia. Of all cases in which laboratory infection with Covid-19 was confirmed, 1,307 had recovered and 38 had died.
Data from the National Health Service show that two patients with Covid-19 have been hospitalized in the last 24 hours. A total of 26 patients are treated in hospitals, of whom 23 have a moderate course of disease and three have a severe course of the disease.
Patients treated for severe disease range in age from 45 to 70 years. To date, 233 Covid-19 patients have been discharged from the hospital, including both recovered and dead.
