In April of this year, the legendary folk music duo Marianne (71) and Michael Hartl (75) said goodbye to the stage after 50 successful years. But it’s not quite over yet – the two are giving their last concert this year and in a very special place.

On September 29th, Marianne and Michael will be on stage for the last time at the Munich Oktoberfest. Their official farewell concert took place on April 28th in Thuringia. So there will be a final encore at the famous folk festival.

On the second Sunday of the Oktoberfest, at 11 a.m., Marianne and Michael Hartl will perform at the traditional open-air concert at Bavaria, as they revealed to “Bild”.This is a great honour and a great honor. But it will definitely be our last public concert.”so Marianne.

She continues: “I feel very honored to sing in front of Bavaria in Munich at the end of our career. We love Bavaria, we’re staying here.”

The two plan to present a medley of their most famous songs, including “I’m in love with Munich”, “Zillertal Wedding March” and “Wann beginnt endlich d’ Musi an”.

After the Munich Oktoberfest it’s over for Marianne and Michael

Wolfgang Grünbauer, head of the band with which Marianne and Michael will perform, explained to “Bild”: “There is no better end to a career than the Oktoberfest. It will never be forgotten. It can’t have been a last concert in Thuringia for two people who have lived in Munich for 50 years. […] We are incredibly proud that they will both be making their final appearance with us.”

Marianne had already announced her decision to end her career in December 2023: “We want to live! Many friends and colleagues are dying around us. We no longer want to sacrifice our golden years for our careers.”
