Last Chance to Self-Harvest Juicy Watermelons: September 28 Event Could Sell Out Fast!

The second “tour” this year will take place next Saturday, September 28. Although there are a lot of melons in the field, the grower expects that they could be gone within two hours due to great demand.

“Of course, the weather damaged the melons, especially the cooling, the temperature difference was big – after all, it is a subtropical plant. But still, everything looks good. It’s such a small miracle, unique,” said Ladislav Kašpar, looking at the watermelon field on the edge of town.

According to the grower, the juicy berries are sweet when picked alone, but customers should let them sit for another 10 days.

“Until the so-called watermelons run out.” The quality will be there, but it cannot be compared to the self-harvest of the summer, we have a harvest here,” he said specifically about the effect of the cooling in the last few days.

According to Ladislav Kašpar, there is great interest in self-harvesting melons. He answers dozens of phone calls every day. That is also why he decided not to plow the 1.5-hectare watermelon field after the summer self-harvest, but to offer people another round.

“There are plenty of watermelons. Because of the interest, however, it is necessary to count on the fact that the melons may run out in an hour or two. So that people don’t drive needlessly from long distances and then they don’t get embarrassed,” he said.

The price will be very popular again – 8 crowns per kilogram.
