The Samsung T7, T7 Shield and T7 Touch have the same floor plan as a credit card, only they are thicker. Inside we find faster chips and a controller with support for the NVMe protocol, which is why they achieve sequential reading and writing of 1 GB/s. Flash drives with a capacity of 500 GB usually cost from a thousand and their speed is limited to 150 MB/s.
However, you can only fully enjoy an external SSD if you have Thunderbolt or USB 3.2 Gen 2 with a throughput of 10 Gb/s in your computer. With a regular blue USB 3.0 (5Gb/s) it will run at around 500-600MB/s.
