On Monday, the parents’ request to appeal the decision again was denied. However, they were given a little longer to submit a request to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), reports the British newspaper. The Guardian. The deadline expires on Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. (Dutch time).
Response to appeal
The parents say in a response that they prefer to submit their case to the UNCRPD, a United Nations committee that deals with the rights of people with disabilities.

Op 15th of July it was decided on appeal that the treatment of Archie may be stopped. This decision is in line with the previous opinion, last June. The judges who heard the case on Monday had postponed the execution of their sentence until today. That has now been extended again until tomorrow afternoon.
The extension was initially given because Archie’s father was in hospital with a suspected heart attack prior to the appeal last Monday.
Treat as long as heart beats
According to his doctors, Archie is brain dead and stopping the ventilator is best for the boy. His prospects for recovery are said to be “nil.”

The boy’s parents want the doctors to continue treating him as long as his heart is still beating. They are supported in this by churches and other Christian organizations.
Fainting Challenge
Archie’s mother tells The Guardian in a response that she will never give up on Archie. “From the beginning, we’ve been asking for Archie to have more time and to respect his and our wishes. As long as Archie lives, I will never give up on him.”
Archie was found unconscious in the house by his mother on April 7 with a band around his head. He has not regained consciousness since then. His mother suspects that he participated in an online challenge in which people try to lose consciousness for a short time.
