The movie Plantedby Cuban directors Lilo and Camilo Vilaplana, will have its last screening in Miami this week, as part of a cycle that began last March 10, and continued every Sunday of the month.
The film, which was presented during the month in the heart of exile, will have its last special screening at the Tower Theater Cultural Center, in Little Havana, Miami, this Sunday, March 31.
At the function, the directors will be present, as well as part of the cast, and the political activist Reinol Rodríguez, who was in charge of raising the funds to make the film.
The film is part of the celebration of the anniversary of its premiere, which took place during the 2023 Miami International Film Festival, where it won the Audience Awards and the Best Film Made in Miami.
The crudeness with which it reflected the abuses perpetrated by the Cuban dictatorship against its political prisoners moved the public since its premiere, and has allowed the film to be presented at various festivals.
It also managed to be shown in commercial cinemas outside of Miami, in the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, and won Best Director at the New York Film Festivalalready Best Foreign Film at the Toronto Cift Film Festival.
Planted It is inspired by the experiences of real Cuban political prisoners, and has served as a tool to denounce a reality that, to date, is still experienced on the Island, where there are currently more than a thousand political prisoners.
The performance will be this March 31 at 6:00 pm. If you want to purchase tickets, you can do so through this link.
