Last Ball des Sports in Wiesbaden – FFH.de

For the 51st time, the German Sports Aid is organizing the Ball des Sports on Saturday – for the time being it will be taking place in Wiesbaden for the last time. The town hall majority had rejected further funding for the glamorous ball event. So the ball will move to Frankfurt next year.

Medal winners and political celebrities

The preparations in the Rhein-Main-Congress-Center (RMCC) have been going on for many days. More than 1,500 guests are expected, including 100 Olympic and Paralympic medalists. Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser is expected to be the responsible sports minister, as is Hesse’s new Prime Minister, Boris Rhein. The ball last took place in 2020 – then, as is well known, there was a Corona break. The net proceeds from the ball go to support young talented athletes.

“Free Action Sports”

Current sports are presented again at the ball. There will be a BMX skateboard show, because so-called “free action sports” are popular with young people in particular. At a biathlon demonstration, laser pointers are used. TV presenter Johannes B. Kerner will moderate the ball. Some road closures will be necessary around the RMCC at the weekend.
