After the frenzy of advertisements on social networks, the National Electoral Council (CNE) decided to add them to spending control, something that was not determined when the electoral process began and left the window open to an anticipated campaign without control.
But, four months before the electoral authority made that decision, Facebook decided to account for and make transparent spending on political advertising in its Ecuador advertisement library.
Since then, users can know how many and which of the candidates’ posts are political advertising, how much they cost, where they were scheduled and their scope.
