Swedish Lasse Berghagen (78) was placed in an artificial coma after heart surgery three weeks ago.

Now Malin Berghagen (57), the daughter he has with his late ex-wife Lill-Babs Svensson, states that things are moving forward.
“I both laugh and cry at the small progress he constantly makes,” she writes own blog Sunday.
Malin Berghagen, who is herself a singer and actress, reports that she is now going home to Sweden after a week’s rest in Rhodes.
She explains that it was difficult to leave her father in the hospital, but that the doctors assured her that she still could not be with him constantly.
In the intensive care unit
Lasse Berghagen, one of Sweden’s most famous and popular artists and songwriters, is still in intensive care, writes the daughter.
But he is no longer in a coma, which the doctors put him in after complications allegedly arose as a result of the heart operation.
Every day, Malin Berghagen has called the hospital from the Greek island, so that the nurses will hold the phone to her father’s ear.
«He has heard the waves, and I have described the scents. And he has responded with presence and gratitude», she says and adds:
«It has gone better than I could have ever hoped for».

Was mistakenly reported dead
The news that Berghagen had been put into a coma and was critically ill made big headlines in Sweden at the beginning of September.
– The whole week has been quite unstable and difficult for all of us. Due to complications, dad has been sedated since Saturday, because the body and organs need to rest, Malin Berghagen told The evening paper 8. september.
It also received a lot of attention when the radio channel Mix Megapol mistakenly reported that the 78-year-old had died.

Now the daughter expresses hope that the father will return to prison. She writes that she is looking forward to holding his hand and showing him the cross she has bought for him.
«I walked all the 300 steps up to the monastery to buy it, and to pray for Dad to get well again», she writes.

Lasse Berghagen made his recording debut in the 60s. Among his best-known songs is his self-penned “Teddybjörnen Fredriksson”. He is known from a number of TV shows, such as Melodifestivalen, “Så mycket bättre” and “Allsång på Skansen”. He led the latter from 1994 to 2003.
In 2021, Berghagen summarized his own life in the biography “Hello Life”.
